Villagers in Rowde will have the chance to see their own professional actress strut her stuff on Friday.

Jules Hobbs has lived in Springfield Road, Rowde, with her partner Richard Bardsley for five years and she is a familiar face in the community shop, where she volunteers.

But she travels the country with her own company, Finding the Will, bringing the work of Shakespeare to pupils in schools and colleges who have never had any drama training.

Ms Hobbs and her colleague Richard Curnow will perform Bard Heads, based on Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads, where characters from Shakespeare plays talk about what happens to them after the curtain comes down.

In it, Ms Hobbs presents Hermia, one of the lovers from A Midsummer Night’s Dream 20 years after the play ends and finds her middle-aged and not entirely happy.

She is also the Third Witch from the Left in Macbeth, who is conscience-stricken about the rotten trick the witches played on Macbeth.

Ms Hobbs said: “It’s lovely only having to walk down the road to perform rather than travel to Aberdeen, where we will take the show in June.”

Ms Hobbs hails from Ramsbury, near Marlbor-ough, where her mother, Sheila, is a founder member of the Ravensbury Players.

Ms Hobbs and Mr Curnow perform at 7pm at the village hall, organised through Rural Arts Wiltshire, and tickets are on sale at the door.
